Salida Colorado Art Events

Art and Salida are synonymous.John Villani's book "The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America" recognizes Salida as 30th in the nation and among the top three small art towns in Colorado.

Salida Art Walk takes place in late June and is an annual arts celebration in Colorado's largest historic district — downtown Salida, Colorado. Visitors stroll Historic Downtown Salida streets, enjoying the sights and sounds of the visual and performing art showcased in over 40 galleries, restaurants & shops. This is an event you won't want to miss.

Each year brings an even bigger and better art-filled weekend. Nationally known artists, sculptors, jewelers, and an ever-growing field of stimulating art and artists are available to the art enthusiast. Come and discover for yourself why Salida has been named one of the "100 Best Small Art Towns in America" by John Villani.

Special receptions are available to our art patrons this year -Meet our artists during the festive artist receptions that will be taking place Saturday evening at many of our galleries.

Buena Vista Art Gallery Tour is an event scheduled for early July each year. The tour celebrates the art work of northern Chaffee County. You will have the opportunity to meet local artists, view their work and enjoy refreshments provided by the open houses.

Also in Buena Vista the old Courthouse Gallery and Museum built in 1883 features works of artists of Chaffee County Council on the Arts with exhibits that change on a regular basis. During the summer the Courthouse Gallery is open seven days a week.

Chaffee County Open Awards Art Show features the competing works of local artists each year and is usually held in September.

An ongoing art display may be found at the Pueblo Bank and Trust on F street in Sallida. The exhibition is sponsored by Art of the Rockies and the Chaffee County Council on the Arts.
